Designer & Jeweler

Hey,

I'm Dan-Mihail Constantinescu, and I have been a professional jewelry designer and jeweler since 2011.

I am a graduate of the National University of Arts in Bucharest. I hold a Master's degree in Ceramics, Glass, and Metal, and I am a member of the Union of Plastic Artists, Decorative Arts branch. I am also a jeweler certified by the ANPC, Precious Metals Department, in Bucharest, and I hold a hallmark with the initials CDM, which can be found on all jewelry produced by me.

The Story

The beginning

For me, jewelry-making is not just a hobby or a side activity to supplement my income—it is my profession and the most important thing I do every day, to which I dedicate all my time in order to excel and become the best. My goal is to succeed in bringing to life in metal everything I imagine and design. I learned jewelry-making mostly on my own, and everything I know is the result of an enormous passion, countless hours of self-study and practice, designing, crafting, exercising my skills, and fulfilling orders in my workshop. I believe jewelry is a miniature sculpture in metal, meant to convey emotions, ideas, and desires. It is one of the few forms of art we can wear. At the same time, it is an object that should tell a story about the person who wears it. That’s why every piece I create is unique or part of a limited series, which gives it true value. Each piece is crafted by me from the initial idea to the finished product, ready to be worn by the customer.

Denouement

I can personalize and bring your ideas to life in a unique and personal way, transforming your commissioned piece into a work of art. I want the jewelry I craft to become something deeply personal and intimate for the wearer—something that represents them and leaves a beautiful memory. The design of my jewelry is often inspired by history, a subject I am deeply passionate about. I am one of the few jewelers in Romania who researches and uses authentic traditional metalworking techniques, such as Etruscan granulation, mokume gane, niello, repoussé, hot enamel firing, hand engraving, samorodok reticulation, filigree, Egyptian inlay, and scrimshaw, to create one-of-a-kind pieces. I also use modern technologies like 3D design and 3D printing in castable resin, and I enjoy combining modern or exotic materials such as carbon fiber, mahogany, and rosewood. All the photos on my website are real—they show actual pieces I have created, not digitally altered renderings. Colors and shades are not modified. Personally, I believe this craft cannot be fully taught by someone else. It is a path you must walk alone, with dedication and hard work. And the creative part? That comes down to talent. Thank you!
